Standard - Ickett
A folk/punk band made up of people from my school. Check them out!
· You are one out of only a handful of people to survive the apocalypse. Everyone else is dead, including your classmates, the mailman, and all celebrities that you may have revered.
· Those who survived the apocalypse are those closest to your heart. They, too, die. You have seen their bloody corpses, watched them die, and/or were the cause of their death.
· As a parent, you have watched your only child scribble messages of self-hatred on their bedroom wall. They brush off your attempts to express how proud you are of them.
· You have sacrificed your humanity in order to ensure the victory of your friends. Your usefulness has run out. A friend you sought to save has momentarily forgotten your existence.
· An immutable physical characteristic that you were born with is, in your society, reason enough to justify violent discrimination against you.
· You have vivid memories of a world where things were better. No one else does.
· You are forced to wait three years before you can be reunited with two of your closest friends.
· During the three years you spend waiting, you are eagerly looking forward to finally meeting your romantic interest in person. Unbeknownst to you, they are dead.
· You, in death, finally meet your romantic interest in person. They do not know who you are.
· You consider an inanimate object to be your best friend.
· You consider an inanimate object to be more attentive to you and your needs than the person that is the closest thing that you have to a parent.
· Your world has been entirely taken over by alien invaders that would much rather have you dead. Oceans have risen. Cities have fallen.
· Two of your closest friends are separated from you not only by thousands of miles, but by years of time.
· All of the above.
I know I’m definitely missing some.

The Stages of Schizophrenia
A 20th-century artist, Louis Wain, who was fascinated by cats, painted these pictures over a period of time in which he developed schizophrenia. The pictures mark progressive stages in the illness and exemplify what it does to the victim’s perception

Preserved Transparent Animals by Iori Tomita
These see-through critters are preserved in jars and injected with amazing technicolor enzymes to make them all glow-y. Break it down, Science: “Tomita uses an enzyme to dissolve the natural proteins in the flesh. He then injects red dyes into the harder bones and blue dyes into the softer cartilage, thus highlighting usually unseen internal structures. The dead creature is then preserved in a jar of glycerin”. You can even buy miniature versions of these… in Japan.

How to Interpret Blood Spatters
1) Angular - If the victim was on the move, drops hit at an angle. The more oblique the impact, the longer the drop’s tail. The head points in the direction the person was traveling.
2) High Velocity - Misty, diffuse spatter is created by external force greater than 100 feet per second — which usually means a gunshot, an explosion, or (seriously) a sneeze.
3) Hair Impact - A traumatic impact between head and surface tends to leave a stain with feathered edges, like someone squished a loaded paintbrush against the wall.
4) Hair Swipe - If the smear fades out in one direction, the head was likely bloody before contact. The lightest edge of the swipe points in the direction the head was traveling.
5) Fabric Swipe - More fluid than hair swipes, these stains sometimes display the imprint of the bloodied clothing. T-shirt weaves are often the easiest patterns to decipher.
A long, long time ago in a land far away, There was a monster without a name. The monster wanted a name so badly. So the monster left to go on a journey to find a name. But the world was so large that he split into two to make his journey. One went to the west and the other went towards the east. The monster who went to the east found a village.
At the entrance of the village there was a blacksmith. “Mr. Blacksmith, please give me your name,” said the monster. “You can’t give away your name,” the blacksmith replied. “If you give me your name, I’ll enter you and give you strength.” “Really? If you can make me stronger, then I’ll give you my name.” The monster entered the blacksmith. The monster became Otto the Blacksmith.
Otto the Blacksmith became the strongest man in the village. But one day he said, “Look at me. Look at me. Look at how large the monster inside me has become.” Crunch Crunch! Munch Munch! Chomp Chomp! Gulp! The hungry monster ate Otto from the inside out. The monster returned to being a nameless monster.
The monster came to a castle looking for a wonderful name. In the castle, there was a sick boy. “If you give me your name, I’ll give you strength.” “If you can cure this illness and make me strong, I’ll give you my name.” The monster entered the boy. The boy became well.
The king was so pleased! “The prince is well! The prince is well!” The monster liked the boy’s name. He also liked living in the castle. So even though he was hungry, he endured. Every day his stomach growled, but he endured it.
However, he was so hungry that one day he said, “Look at me. Look at me. Look at how large the monster inside me has become.” The boy ate the king and even his servents. Crunch Crunch! Munch Munch! Chomp Chomp! Gulp!
Since there was no one there anymore, the boy went on a journey. He kept on walking for days and days. One day, the boy met the monster who traveled to the west.
“I have a name. It’s a wonderful name, too.”
The monster who went to the west said, “I don’t need a name. I’m happy even without a name.” We just have to accept that we are monsters without a name. The boy ate the monster who went to the west.
The monster finally had a name, But all the people who could call him by that name have disappeared. And Johan was such a wonderful name, too.
